Privacy Policy

The short version

Files you open in FilesForU tools are processed inside your browser, on your device. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see them. FilesForU is free and is supported by advertising.

Files and documents

• Browser tools read your files locally and create the result locally. Nothing is sent over the internet.
• Our code never sends your files or their contents anywhere. The only things our pages send to our server are your account details and a usage record (which tool, the file size and the time).
• We never share your files with advertisers or anyone else.
• When you close or reload the page, the files and results are released from your browser's memory.

Your account

To use the tools you create a free account. We store:

• Your name, email address and a securely hashed password (we never see or store your actual password).
• Your account type and any message you send us.
• A usage log for each operation: which tool you used, the total file size and the time. This helps us keep the service fair and spot abuse. We never record file names or file contents.

This data is stored on our hosting server in a private database that isn't reachable from the web. We use it only to run your account and the service, and we don't sell or share it. A login cookie keeps you signed in; it contains no personal data. If you'd like your account deleted, contact us and we'll remove it along with its usage history.

Information collected automatically

Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the service secure and working. These logs never contain your documents.

Advertising

To keep FilesForU free, we show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad and to measure ad performance. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and can change their choice at any time.

Ads are shown around the tools, never inside them, and advertisers never receive your files from us.

Cookies

• Essential: one cookie keeps you logged in. It contains no personal data.
• Advertising: cookies set by Google and its partners, as described above, depending on your consent choices.
• On your device only: your light/dark theme preference, and OCR language data cached so it loads faster next time. These are never sent to us.

Children

FilesForU is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
